In our last post, we talked about the values at the core of the OV project, and we mentioned our stand against false organic claims. Today, we want to talk about why and how we make sure to seek out truly organic ingredients for the OV products.

In the past few years, more and more companies have started to realize that people care about where the stuff they buy—food, cosmetics, you name it—came from, how it was made, and how it can impact our bodies. Unfortunately, some of these companies, instead of taking stock, truly looking at their own practices and changing them for the best, chose to go the sneaky way; these are the companies that make all sorts of claims about their products being “natural” or “organic”, without any evidence or independent analysis to back it up! Boo.

Luckily, there are now several independent organizations that have made it their mission to monitor organic claims and double- and triple-check whether ingredients and products said to be “organic” truly are, well, organic. ECOCERT and the USDA are two of those. Check them out—the OV products are Certified Organic by both.

So what does “organic” mean, anyway? Simply put, it means GMO-free products grown without fertilizers, pesticides and other synthetic chemicals. Sounds reasonable, right? A lot of us already try to eat as organic as possible, typically for health-related or environmental reasons—we think both are great! To find out more, check out this article about the ‘Top 10 Reasons to Support Organic in the 21st Century’—it makes some pretty great points!

But what about other products—say, the ones we put on our skin or in our hair to help it feel better or grow stronger? We don’t know about you, but we want to be just as careful about those as we are about our food. That’s why when it comes to the OV products, every ingredient that can be organic, is organic.

Hey, do you follow us on Facebook, Instagram and Pinterest yet? If you don’t, you might wanna: it’s shaping up to be a great community over there! Also, if you haven’t made an OV account yet, you totally should (hello, free recipes?). Thanks for reading, and drop us a line in the comment section if you have something you want to share or ask us about.

Hugs,
—OV
